L-lactide is one configuration of lactide, which is formed by dehydration polycondensation of two molecules of L-lactic acid.
Its appearance is white needle or rod like crystal. The melting point is 96~98 °C, and its specific rotation is - 285°~-300°.It is easy to absorb water and deliquesce.
It is always used to synthesize PLLA or copolymers.
